I realised I haven’t really talked much about my here! Folk Remedy is set in a 1920s fantasy Japan (Taisho era).

I started publishing Folk Remedy online, but am now re-working it with an agent into a graphic novel.

This is Maple, the main character. An apothecary apprentice from a small town, Maple wants nothing more than to leave her increasingly irrelevant profession behind and start her real life in the big bright city. When Ember sparks into her life she might just have that chance…

She has fair skin and short bobbed brown hair wirh bangs and ties a sectipn up in a half ponytail that stands up on the back of her head like a puff. In the bottom left she is being held and dipped like in a dance by Ember, who has light brown skin and long fluffy blonde hair. Ember wears mainly blues and is grinning at Maple, who is blushing.

Time for more characters!

This is Ember, a yokai Maple releases from a seal after 300-ish years of being trapped in a lantern.

Ember is a huge flirt and honestly a bit mean. They come across as very self-interested without caring too much about those around them.

Their true motives remain murky from Maple. As they spend time together, Maple realises there’s more to this yokai than just their flashy surface.

An expression sheet of Ember. They are slender with light brown skin, blonde fluffy haur that flows to their lower back and sofly turns to orange at the ends and long pointy elf ears. They are dressed in a sleeveless blue tunic tied with an obi. They are making a variety of expressions, ranging from smarmy over-confident grins to blushing to contemplative thinking poses.

Another character! Peach!

Peach is arguably the fan favourite of Folk Remedy and is the most chaotic creature. I love her very much, she some of the most fun to write and draw because of her unhinged energy.

Important Peach facts:
- Is a Tanuki
- Is a lesbian
- Is a thief/criminal
- Is either drunk or aiming to get drunk
- Claims to have a very hot fiancé, you just haven’t met her yet
- Is after your girl

A series of portraits of a woman in a light pink kimono, except the lower halt is full length pants that are slightly puffy. She wars a red Obi around her waist fastened with a peach shaped decoration. Her hair is shiny and black and done up in a traditional japanese hairstyle, with the hair brushed into large circular shapes on the sides, top and back of her head. The hairstyle also has a portion that hangs behind and curves slightly up, looking like a small tail. She has small pointed brown animal ears in some drawings and also has a very large puffy brown tail. She wears white socks. Her expression varies in the pictures from flirty to embarrassed to drunk, with one picture including her holding a glowing pile of money and grinning with miscief. She is often glancing to the side making a mischevous expression. There is also a small figurine that looks like a tanuki souvenir figurine, big round cartoon eyes, a straw hat, and holding a prayer board.

More characters! This is Sky, my Tengu. He’s definitely causing problems on purpose.

I really like sky because he’s both very up front and direct, but he has a lot of secrets he’s not about to reveal.

He’s fun to write because he likes to play around and be ambiguous, but at the end of the day he has a deep loyalty to his family and his duties.

An expression sheet of a man with medium brown skin, a strong but slim jaw and ears that rise into a point. His hair is dark blue and parted to the side. It swoops down across his forehead and ends in a swoosh of spikes. He wears light blue monk robes with white pompoms. His expressions range from smirky to contemplative.
